Words of Wisdom intergenerational project

HOP Member Justine Shenton, Coordinator of the Sefton Older Person’s Forum, would like to share some of the activity that Southport Older People’s Forum has been doing recently.

Justine said: “Southport Older People’s Forum has been working with a local primary school to promote conversation and shared activities with primary school children.

“We have taken part in three shared events and our older members have shared mottos and thoughts for life with the children.  We have also played board games together, shared a Christmas meal and the children have sung for us.

“Our ‘Words of Wisdom’ will be displayed at The Atkinson Centre in Southport as part of Sefton being the Liverpool City Region’s Borough of Culture. Members shared ‘Words of Wisdom’ included “Look before your leap!”, “Have good manners and be kind to others”, “Don’t be afraid of Maths!”, “Reach for the stars!”

We think this is such a great, positive project allowing older generations to share their wisdom with the next generations.
