Victorian Treasures at Walker Art Gallery

posted in: News 0

A stunning new exhibition opens at the Walker Art Gallery on 27 January, showing more than 60 outstanding Victorian paintings and watercolours. Victorian Treasures explores the work of leading 19th-century classical artists such as Frederic Leighton and Edward John Poynter, as well as work from pioneering Pre-Raphaelite artists including John Everett Millais and William Holman Hunt.

The Victorian period marked an important change in the way people used and viewed art, with painters exploring the fundamentals of human existence, in emotional scenes inspired by legend and mythology. Learn more on the Walker’s website here.
