Veterans visit the U-boat Story

As part of the Veterans HQ Shared Memories Project, a group of 21 veterans and two Australian guests visited the U-boat Story on 27 September.

The day began at the Pier Head before boarding and taking the iconic trip across the Mersey on the ‘Dazzle Ship’ ferry. Some of the veterans had not made the trip for some time and enjoyed taking in Liverpool’s skyline from the water.

Joe Darroch, BEM, said of the visit: “On arrival at the U-boat Story we were greeted by our guide, Chris, and we were joined by veterans from Halton. We then had a splendid time enjoying the WW11 German U-boat featuring interactive & audio exhibits displayed on site.

Our day was completed by our customary visit to the Word Famous White Star where we enjoyed a Buffet and Refreshments . Once again my arm was twisted to recite Robert Burns Poetry and sing Scottish Folk Music only for our Aussie visitors of course.
