New ‘Liverpool Reconnect’ service from Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton

posted in: News 0

In September Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton launched a new Befriending and Re-ablement service called Liverpool Reconnect.

Residents of Liverpool local authority who are aged 65+ can access the service for free. People can self-refer or a family member, friend or other agency can also make a referral. You can access up to 6 weeks of support from a Befriending and Re-ablement Officer and after 6 weeks you can be allocated a volunteer Befriender who will continue to visit you every week at your home.

Alternatively you may wish to join one of the Liverpool Reconnect groups who meet regularly at a variety of venues across the city, giving you the opportunity to increase your independence, improve your confidence and overcome loneliness.

The Befriending and Re-ablement officer will work with you helping you to achieve your aims which may include providing companionship, giving you the confidence to go to the shops, organise or plan your day, accompany you to classes, activities or appointments.

For more information about the service please contact Lynne MacLaren, Reconnect Administrator. Telephone 0151 256 2549 or email

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer Befriender please get in touch with Helen Pattie, Volunteer Organiser and Promotions Officer. Telephone 0151 330 5678 or email
