Katumba: Drumming Workshops for Stroke Survivors

Calling all stroke survivors, carers and health professionals! Join the Stroke Association’s new drumming project ,working with Katumba –  Liverpool’s renowned drumming and movement group.

Workshops are open to all regardless of age or ability and will introduce you into the world of percussion & movement. Participants will get the chance to learn from facilitators who are professionals in their area, traditional to where the music/drum/culture comes from, and learn about the background of our style of music and how it’s connected to our history in the UK and beyond. Using a variety of rhythms (from Brazil, passing through Africa and UK with urban beats), the workshops will encourage unity, boosting self-esteem and wellbeing – besides being lots of fun!

Join the FREE taster session on Thursday 14th September, 4pm-5pm at Fazakerley Community Centre, Formosa Drive, L10 7LQ.

An 8 week course starts on Thursday 5th October at the same time and venue. 20 places are available, so book now to avoid disappointment to kate.charles@stroke.org.uk
