The NIHR CRN North West Coast are holding a Dementia Showcase which includes dancing, presentations, choir performances and more.
This event has been put together to showcase the work of different organisations who work in some way with people living with dementia.
The organisations attending might be providing support or other services for people living with dementia or their family/carers or may be conducting research into this area. The event will bring together organisations which perhaps have before worked in isolation and encourage cross-fertilisation of research ideas as well as create an informal regional ‘dementia community’ whose members may be delivering or participating in clinical research.
The plan is to have a sort of ‘marketplace’ where visitors can get information about dementia services, learn more about the conditions and about research.
There will be a seating area for a couple of presentations and demonstrations and an interactive dancing demo which everyone can get involved in (which is great fun and completely accessible), choirs and some presentations. The team will be holding mini memory assessments, showing videos of patients’ experience of being involved in trials, mock studies to highlight that research isn’t all just about drugs trials, information and other interactive activities.
