Bestbeat is a play set in Liverpool in 1962. The time of Merseybeat, when beat groups played rock’n’roll in clubs and dance halls like The Cavern. The play tells the story of what happened to Pete Best, the Beatles’ original drummer, when he was replaced by Ringo Starr as the group were on the verge of the big time. The play uses live music, drama and humour.
After a successful run in May the play is now doing a mini tour of venues where the early Beatles played.
