Alzheimers Society activity groups

The Alzheimers Society has various activity groups which it operates for people living with dementia and their carers.

There are opportunities to join an Art Group, starting from 13th July 2015 on the 2nd & 4th Monday of the month. The group will run for 6 sessions in the community in the North of the City. The Art Group is an imaginative session facilitated by a Bluecoat artist with support from Alzheimer’s Society staff, providing multi-sensory stimulation as well as social interaction. You don’t have to be artistic to get creative and express yourself, and the sessions use a variety of materials in a supportive environment where everyone’s contribution is respected and valued.

On the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, the Movement and Dance group is an exhilarating session for people living with dementia and their carers facilitated by a Merseyside Dance Initiative Dance Artist with support from Alzheimer’s Society staff. Incorporating a variety of props, music and movement styles, the sessions are certain to get the endorphins flowing and the body moving.

Alzheimers Society also operate a Singing for the Brain® group which runs on the 2nd & 4th Thursday in each month at St Bede’s Church Hall Fern Grove/Hartingon Road Toxteth L8 ORZ. Singing for the Brain® is a friendly social group bringing together people living with dementia and their carers through music and song.

If anyone is interested in attending any of these groups please contact the Alzheimers Office in Liverpool on 0151 298 2444 for more information.
