Afternoon concerts at the Phil

posted in: News 0

The Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool is now open again after a spectacular revamp. If you’ve been meaning to check out its new look, there are some really wonderful afternoon concerts coming up.

Friday 13th November at 2.30pm, Schumann’s Violin Concerto and Mahler’s Symphony No.6. When Vasily Petrenko conducted the Mahler’s Sixth in 2011, one critic declared it ‘an emotional rollercoaster’.

On Sunday 22nd November, guest conductor Long Yu conducts the much-loved ballet score of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto – a very romantic afternoon.

Finally, there’s a perfect afternoon treat for Christmas as the orchestra performs music from Fairy Tales on Friday 4 December at 2.30pm, including Prokofiev’s Cinderella and the final act of Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty.

The Phil are keen to encourage HOP members to bring groups along – please contact us if you would like to make a group booking as we may be able to arrange discounted tickets or other special offers.

Long Yu, enjoy the bestloved-
ballet score of all
time, and savour Julian
Rachlin’s performance
of Tchaikovsky’s songful
Violin Concerto.
