75th Anniversary commemoration of Operation Market Garden (Arnhem)

HOP member Joseph Darroch, a representative of Veterans HQ, has shared a story about the 75th anniversary commemoration of Operation Market Garden. Joseph said:

“At Liverpool Parish Church Our Lady & St Nicholas on 15 September 2019 the Parachute Regiment Association (Liverpool Branch) hosted an Annual Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving of 75th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden (Arnhem)

“There was a civic and clergy procession during the introit. The event was attended by the armed forces community, regimental associations including their standard bearers, the army Cadet Force, older veterans and a wide range of families and friends and local dignitaries.

“The Revd Canon Dr Crispin Pailing, Rector of Liverpool conducted the welcome, opening prayer, address and blessing

“There were other guest speakers which included Operation Market Garden, D Day to Arnhem, landing withdrawal and the aftermath.

“Later a buffet lunch was enjoyed at the Atlantic Tower opposite in Chapel Street.”
