Meet new people and learn new skills with Bowl for Health!

posted in: News, Programme of events | 0

‘Bowl for Health’ is an eight week programme designed for complete newcomers to bowls, providing an overview of the basics and how to play a match.

The idea was developed and successfully piloted in 2017 by Holy Trinity Bowling Club in Formby, and is now being rolled out by more clubs across Liverpool thanks to funding from Liverpool City Council.

Run by qualified and welcoming coaches, older adults are being encouraged to feel the benefits of being more active by heading along to a Bowl for Health course near them.

Taking part can give yourself a boost, help you to feel more refreshed and is a great way to meet new people.  Suitable for complete beginners, with all equipment provided – anybody can join in and no previous experience of bowls or any other sport is required.

There are two new Bowl for Health courses running in Liverpool in summer 2019:

  • The Circular (Circular Road East, L11 1BU) starts 11.00am to 12.00pm Tue 16th July running for 6 weeks. To book your place please contact Margaret on 0151 228 3335/079675 58472 or email
  • West Derby Recs Bowling Club (Mill Lane, L12 7JA) starts end July 2019 – date and time tbc. To pre-book a place please contact Pat Hughes on 07811 779760 or email
