On 11 April Armed Forces Veterans from Merseyside visited Western Approaches museum. The visit was part of Liverpool Veterans HQ’s innovative programme to support veterans, reservists and family members of those in the armed forces.
Liverpool Veterans HQ was set up to help Veterans in a number of ways. The group helps to combat loneliness by promoting and fostering the team spirit and comradeship between former members of the Armed Forces. Veterans HQ also provide a focal point by encouraging Veterans, Reservists and their families to engage in arts and culture activities, and provide outreach support for older Veterans to encourage wellbeing and a healthier lifestyle.
The group from Veterans HQ thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Western Approaches, a former World War Two bunker turned military museum. Joe Darroch, from Veterans HQ, said, “The event was extremely enjoyable and was aided by an excellent briefing from Carmen and Concession Admission price from Western Approaches and generous funding from Veterans HQ.”
The day culminated with a delicious buffet and refreshments in the world famous White Star.
