UC Crew based in St Helens have received funding from St Helens Cultural Hubs to research the Northern Soul and Break Dance movements in the 1970s and 1980s.
They’re looking for people that have photographs, news articles or stories that could help help them to learn about the heritage, how it shaped communities and what the influence from Liverpool was.
They have found that many photos and memorabilia from the 1970s and 1980s regarding Northern Soul and Break Dance hasn’t been professionally archived, and so are asking the public to find photos in their lofts and to get the conversations going.
Any contributions will help to create an exhibition in November 2019, which will featured a timeline of activity from the 1970s up to present day.
