Liverpool Cares social clubs in January

Below is a list of Liverpool Cares’ free Social Clubs in Liverpool for people aged 65 and above.

All of their events are hosted by people in their twenties and thirties who want to meet and socialise with people in their community. Share your skills and learn new ones, all whilst making new friends.

Wednesday 9th January, 2 – 4pm: Old Dock Tour – City centre
Merseyside Maritime Museum – Albert Dock, L3 4AQ

Go back in time and visit Liverpool’s Old Dock – the world’s first commercial enclosed wet dock. We will make our way around the carefully preserved dock beneath Liverpool One shopping Centre, and learn all about this exciting piece of history.

Bus Routes: This is at the Albert Dock, so any bus which takes you into the city centre. Call Abbie on 0151 659 1789 if you’re unsure how to get there from your home.

Tuesday 15th January, 6 – 8pm: Board Game Evening – Wavertree
Tiny Rick’s Cafe – 449 Smithdown Rd, L15 3JL

Enjoy a chat and a cuppa with your neighbours over a fun game at our first board game evening! Play something new like Rainbow Rush, or stick to the classics like Cluedo. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Thursday 17th January, 6 – 8pm: Craft Club – Kensington
Kensington Community Learning Centre – 291-299 Kensington, L7 2RG
Learn how to create your own pom-poms at this simple craft club, no experience necessary. Turn them into animals, garlands, wreaths or whatever you fancy!

Saturday 19th January, 12:30 – 1:30pm: Technology workshop – Mossley Hill
Penny Lane Development Trust – 70 Penny Lane, L18 1BW
Want to improve your confidence with your phone or laptop? Come along for a cuppa and bring your gadgets and technology-related questions with you!

Monday 21st January, 6 – 7:30pm: Pub Club – Wavertree
Craft Taproom Pub – 174 Smithdown Road, L15 3JR

Relax and get to know your younger neighbours over a free drink at our cosy pub club, this time in the new venue of Craft Taproom, a institution known for its craft beer.

Saturday 26th January, 12:00-14:00: Guided tour and activity – City centre
FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) – 88 Wood Street, L1 4DQ
Come along to FACT’s exhibition “Broken Symmetries”. Enjoy a guided tour and get involved in our activity afterwards, led by one of the FACT team.

Bus routes: Any bus which takes you into the city centre, FACT is about a 3 minute walk from The Bombed Out Church.

Tuesday 29th January, 6 – 8pm: Pizza party – City centre
Sound Food and Drink – 52 Duke Street, L1 5AA
Enjoy the company of your younger neighbours over some free pizza at this city centre bar!

Bus routes: Any bus which takes you into the city centre, Sound Food and Drink is on Duke Street (on the corner of York Street).
