HOP Member Community Integrated Care wins at FAB NHS Awards

HOP Member, Community Integrated Care has been recognised at this year’s FAB NHS Awards with the charity winning the ‘Penguin Award’, celebrating collaboration between teams or organisations who come together to overcome a challenge, for their training event ‘The Activity Academy’.

The Activity Academy was an innovative training event aimed to develop a new model for training frontline carers in how to utilise creativity and person-centred approaches to improve the lives of people living with dementia.

The event was held in collaboration with NHS Halton CCG, Halton Borough Council, The University of the West of England and rugby league team, Widnes Vikings, and showcased how multiple organisations can come together to achieve exceptional outcomes. It was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council as part of the ‘Dementia Connect’ programme.

‘The Activity Academy’ also featured contributions from other organisations including, Skills for Care, Live Music Now, House of Memories, Open Eye Gallery, Norton Priory, and the acclaimed poet – Terry Caffrey.

Feedback from the event indicated that 100% of attendees were inspired to deliver new approaches to promoting activity, and a post event analysis demonstrated that all surveyed participating services went on to enhance the support that they deliver.
