Liverpool Cares is a community network of young professionals and older neighbours hanging out and helping one another in our rapidly changing city. They have a number of programs that aim to bring people together to reduce isolation and loneliness in younger and older people.
The range of programs aim to bridge gaps across social generational, digital, cultural and attitudinal divides, and improve skills, confidence, and resilience of everyone involved, so it’s mutually beneficial to both audiences. You can sign up as both an older neighbour or as a volunteer to take part in a range of FREE activities across the city.
Throughout the year you can:
Join FREE Social Clubs each month
The Social Clubs will take place in various venues and areas across the city – which will see everything from pub nights, quizzes, crafts and dances, tech workshops. The social clubs are a great opportunity to meet younger and older people, share stories and get to know your Liverpudlian neighbours! The first FREE social club is taking place on 19 November – to book your FREE place call 0151 659 1789
Be matched with a younger neighbour through Love Your Neighbour
Helping to bring some of the outside world in for people who may struggle to get out. This maybe a weekly catch up chat or a cup of tea, a trip to the park or a meal out.
Winter Wellbeing project
The project is aimed at neighbours over-65 and over runs form November 2018 – March ’19 and will help older neighbours stay warm, active and better connected during the winter. Liverpool Cares can deliver free blankets, hot water bottles and warm items to those most in need as well as arrange small grants for people struggling to heat their home and are facing difficult financial circumstances. They can also signpost neighbours to support, advice and help that other organisations are offering across the city region.
