The Community Collective is a self-organised group of adults who meet regularly at Tate Liverpool on the first Thursday of each month.
Monthly sessions consist of discussions, art-making activities, visits to current gallery collections and exhibitions. Gallery staff and artists are sometimes invited by the Community Collective to lead a group activity.
- Ownership – To broaden the gallery’s audience and widen participation by welcoming local people/communities and encouraging them to get involved and contribute towards gallery activity.
- Knowledge – To generate new knowledge by learning with our audiences and value knowledge from different vantage points.
- Empowerment – For Community Collective members to become self-directed. This could involve arranging independent visits to Tate Liverpool, organising meetings, setting their own goals and communicating directly with the gallery.
- Inclusion – The voices of the Community Collective members are heard and acknowledged by the gallery.
The Community Collective currently has a core membership of 10 people and welcomes new members.
The next Community Collective meeting is taking place on 4 October, 10.30am – 1.30pm at Tate Liverpool, Albert Dock, Liverpool L3 4BB.
