FACT’s Digital Ambassadors group have been focussing on FACT’s last exhibition How Much of This is Fiction – involving artists as tricksters and featuring work which involves the direct use of deception, tricks, hoaxes and hacks. The group responded to this exhibition by making a zine focussing on the theme of fake news which was distributed in the foyer as an accompaniment to the show.
The group researched about zines and acquired lots of news stories from local newspapers to base their fake stories on. They then made these into digital documents which together make a short booklet of different stories.
They have also been working on a project with artist Joumana Mourad to document their memories of Liverpool and locating them on a digital map. This has included some trips to St George’s Hall, Steble Fountain and Crosby Beach.
In the next few weeks the group will be starting a blog making project – learning how to share their activities with others online as well as making prediction machines with artist Rachel Jacobs.
