Encountering the unexpected: activating museum collections for successful ageing

House of Memories at National Museums Liverpool is developing an engagement project with older people using natural heritage collections. Encountering the Unexpected is a two-year project running from April 2016 – March 2018 that will initiate a series of bold museum experiments with natural heritage collections to discover their potential to support successful ageing.

Funded by the Museum Association’s Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, the project is a partnership between the Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG), University of Leicester, the North West Natural History Museums Partnership, and strategic partners including The Eden Project, Age UK and Equal Arts.

House of Memories is going to be developing some activities for the project later in the year so be sure to keep an eye on their website for the latest developments.

Also at National Museums Liverpool the Victorian Treasures exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery continues until 7 May. For more information, visit the HOP Blog.
