Liverpool’s community organisations are running a range of events this August, from a sports day to a luau. Read on for more details:
On Wednesday 12th August, Healthiness Ltd is holding its annual over 50s summer sports day at Lark Lane Community Centre. All are welcome.
Bradbury Fields holds its Hawaiian themed Summer Jamboree on Friday 14th August. Tickets are £8 and can be reserved by phoning Louise Cannon on 0151 221 0888.
If you have been left in charge of your grandchildren this summer, the Royal Court Youth Theatre’s production of Badfellas, by local writer Maurice Bessman, is suitable for all the family.
MDI continues to deliver dance workshops for all ages, including special classes for people with dementia, contemporary dance classes, and tap for beginners. They’ve sent us details as follows:
MDI will be running several classes over the summer and a continuation and extension of our regular programme
Dance and movement for dementia with the Alzheimer’s Society
August 10th and 24th 1.30 – 3.30 FREE
A fun and creative class for people living with dementia and their carers – gentle exercise, creative movement, great tea and biscuits!
These classes continue until the end of March 2016 on the second and fourth Monday of each month.
August 12th 11 – 12.30 £3.50
A contemporary dance class for anyone over 50 who enjoys dancing, gentle exercise, fun, learning new skills and a good natter! Plenty of opportunities for performing if you’re keen.
Regular classes start back on September 2nd at the same time.
August 13th, 20th and 27th £3.00
A lively tap class at beginners level for anyone who used to tap or has always wanted to. Learn basic steps, rhythms and combinations which develop into short sequences. Also opportunities for performing for those who are keen!
Regular classes start back on Sept 17th
Look out for special events in September for people living with dementia and Parkinson’s, VITAL! at the Bluecoat – a Celebration of dance by older people from Liverpool, Gateshead and Australia on September 25th and a new term of Dance for Parkinson’s in October!
